Based on the concept of the popular Indian TV singing Talent Contest "Indian Idol", Dallas Ka Tara , will give the opportunity to two local artists to shine amongst thousands who will come to watch their music idol 'Sonu Nigam' live in concert on Labor Day weekend in Dallas.
Contest Format :
The contest will be segmented in 3 rounds and will allow at least 100 local artists to participate.
ROUND 1 - 8/4/07 & 8/11/07
This round will be split into two days where 50 contestants will perform 3mins of a song in front of a panel of qualified judges on each day.
Round 1 will result in a total of 10 finalists.
ROUND 2 - 8/18/07
The 10 finalists will get the chance to introduce themselves to the Dallas listening audience via a specially publicized show on 104.9 FM where each contender will then sing his/her favorite Sonu Nigham song live on air.
Listeners will then vote in their choices online.
ROUND 3 - 8/25/07
Each of the 10 finalists will perform 4-5mins Sonu Nigham hits in front of a panel of celebrity judges.
The judges will score each performance based on a set criteria.
The scores from the judges evaluation will be added to the scores received through the online poll (eknazar.com)
1 winner and 2 runner up will be selected .
Prize:
The winner will be given the exclusive once in a life time opportunity to present the opening act for the "Simply Sonu" concert in Dallas.
The winners will be featured in the upcoming issue of Diya Salaam Namaste magazine
The winner will also receive a round-trip business class ticket to India, sponsored by Continental Airlines.
Contest Registration:
Participation requires $20 ticket purchase and a $10 registration fee applies. Only the first 100 applications will be accepted.
